The Ricoh fi-800R is an ultra-compact, high-speed document scanner designed specifically for front-office environments where space is limited and versatile document handling is required. It features a unique dual-path mechanism that allows it to scan everything from standard A4 documents to thick passports and ID cards without a carrier sheet.

The two scanning paths process thicker items such as ID cards and passports (including the Machine Readable Zone) alongside A4 documents, on the same machine. The U-turn path mechanism with Automatic Stacking Technology ejects papers back up through the scanner, eliminating the need for a front output tray and drastically reducing the machine's footprint. It can be used in spaces half the size of an A4 sheet.
• No-fuss ID and passport scanning: Scanning identification documents is faster and easier with the fi-800R's Return Scan functionality. ID cards up to 5mm thick and passports are both inserted and ejected at the front of the machine without carrier sheets or paper path switching.
• Hassle-free operation: Reliable paper feeding mechanisms reduce interruptions. Automatic Skew Correction straightens documents before scanning, and Active Separation technology adjusts pressure for each sheet depending on thickness. These features reduce rescans and document damage, providing a professional experience for customers.
• Impressive speed: The fi-800R scans at 40 pages/80 images per minute. The 20-sheet Automatic Document Feeder eliminates the need to manually input pages, boosting staff productivity and reducing customer wait times.
• Industry-leading image quality: PaperStream IP driver software enhances scanned image quality by removing stains, imprints, and watermarks. It aids OCR and can invert text for improved legibility.
• Software automation: PaperStream Capture workflow software automatically names, sorts, and distributes scanned documents, extracts information for indexing, and feeds captured data into existing systems. Automatic Profile Selection recognises different document types and applies the right scanning profile even in mixed batches.
